Planned corporate response to two top issues: Anniversary of October 7 and HRC participation

In today’s highly politicized environment, corporations are under pressure to weigh in on, and take a firmer stance, on societal issues. Those pressures come internally from employees and shareholders as well as externally from activists and consumers, introducing an unprecedented minefield of reputational risks for brands to navigate.

In our latest survey of Gravity Research’s Corporate Insider Group—an exclusive group of 200 communications leaders at Fortune 1000 companies—we asked about their plans around two big moments: the anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks and HRC participation.

We found that:

  • More than half of executives (61%) do not plan to commemorate the anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks. Another 30% are unsure or still deciding.
  • Most companies (72%) do not plan to withdraw their participation from the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index. Many cite feeling worried about increasing politicization and shifting goalposts.
